Air does not recognise sovereign borders. Following the findings of our January 2026 Report, The Invisible Import, it is clear that air pollution is a regional “shared debt” that requires a unified, transboundary response.
The OneAir™ Initiative is a regional framework designed to protect “receptor nations” while incentivising “source nations” to adopt sustainable practices. Our research confirms that regional air quality is now 100 times deadlier than the climate-driven storms we traditionally prepare for.
The Sub-Continental “Pollution Pipeline”
Pollution travels across thousands of kilometres via atmospheric “pipelines.” During seasonal monsoons, wind acts as a conveyor belt, transporting industrial, agricultural, and urban waste from high-density production zones to neighbouring countries.
Critically, this air undergoes “Chemical Ripening” over long distances. This process increases its oxidative potential, meaning the air reaching downwind nations is often more toxic than at its point of origin. This is a regional health crisis that no single nation can solve in isolation.

Scaling the One-Air™ Initiative
While our primary case study focuses on the Indian Ocean corridor, the One-Air™ Framework is a modular system designed for any region facing transboundary atmospheric challenges. We are currently engaging with national ministries, international NGOs, and regional cooperation bodies to integrate these proprietary suggestions into a unified strategic framework.

- The Framework belongs to the Effort: While IERI has established a preliminary strategic framework to safeguard the project’s early momentum, this structure is a living document. It is intended to be a shared foundation that supports, rather than dictates, the work of others.
- No Hierarchy of Contribution: An academic’s data validation is just as critical as a policy maker’s implementation. We work as a collective of peers where no single party’s effort is impacted or absorbed by the framework.
- Shared Responsibility, Collective Impact: We move away from individual ownership toward a model of Joint Responsibility. We are all stakeholders in the air we share.

This is a “Plug-and-Play” collaboration. You don’t “join” us; we align with each other.
- Academic & Scholarly Independence: Universities and scholars continue their primary research. The One-Air™ framework simply offers a way for those independent findings to be cross-referenced with regional data for a larger impact.
- Institutional Synergy: Organisations and associations can link their existing efforts to a regional strategy without any loss of identity or autonomy.
- Individual Engagement: Activists and professionals contribute their expertise directly to the joint effort, ensuring that the movement remains grounded in diverse, real-world perspectives.
